downloading journal entries

I've seen people talking about the need to download journal entries for backup purposes -- do you know about this?

it lets you download your journal a month at a time.

because lj docs are so DISORGANIZED!

I was looking around for some info on an lj client for a friend, & stumbled across a page with that link -- I couldn't tell you how I got there, though.

Wait, now I do remember someone referring to that doc before. I held off on using it because we were trying to find a way to include the pictures as well as the text, but I still don't know of a decent way to do that. Also the comments aren't included, but I wouldn't really expect that kind of miracle.

I just went through and archived 15 months' worth! It's a weird script, though... some of the months were in a larger font and the url text strings were intact; others just had the visible part of the entries but without the pics themselves so when I wrote about a picture there is no text record of which picture it was.

Oh well, it's something, at least! Lookatme complaining that the only thing you can archive about your journal is the writing.
