Isn't dabbing when you stick your finger in something?

No, I don't mean like that.

You know, where you're like, "Man, this dab of butter taste so delicious.  I think I'll go for the full course".

If it doesn't mean that, I apologize.  Perhaps dabbing is when you're painting a picture, and you take a 'dab' of paint.
