You should never think that you're a bad friend. And things like this will always have an effect on you. I can still remember clearly to this day, being I think 8 years old, and getting out of my bed from hearing the screaming, and walking to the doorway and seeing a lamp hurled across my parents bedroom by my Mom. Probably because my Dad had bee shooting up again. Things like that have a real effect on you no matter what.
I've held my Mom while she was in tears too. But I think if I can be as okay as I am then you can certainly do much better than I have. You just have to not underestimate your ability to become stronger without abandoning your ability to feel for yourself and others. As the saying goes "Have the Serenity to Accept the things you cannot change, the Courage to change the things you can, and the Wisdom to know the difference." *hugs*

I've held my Mom while she was in tears too. But I think if I can be as okay as I am then you can certainly do much better than I have.
