i'm surprised a mainstream american newsservice would air such a diatribe. but that's good. we need more burning tires and overturned cars and thrown rocks.
in my opinion.
but i thought it was silly how in bearing his heart to the teleprompter, it's still "turn, camera #2. turn, camera #1," as usual. i don't know. everything's awfully silly. the government, the large media outlets, the corporations, the people. i don't think anyone's going to come out of this a winner.
First, this is from October 18th, 2006, based on when the act he refers to was passed. Its constitutionality is under consideration in the current Supreme Court session, with oral arguments in a little over a week. There has been three trials under this act, one leading to a plea bargain by an Australian, now serving jail time in Australia and soon to be released, the other two dismissed by the tribunals, who agreed with the Senator who wrote the act and disagreed with the defense department that the act applied without a violation of international law. A fourth case was also ruled not to be legitimate as an application of this act

Perhaps that's why he was being so melodramatic in the first place. It's not a forecast, it's a preventive measure, like a vaccine. You give people a small taste of injustice so that there's no chance for the real injustices to actually appen. Or it's just about ratings and no one in media is smart enough to think in terms of preventive measures. But honestly....just because most people are stupid doesn't mean all people are stupid. I think it's safe to assume someone knew what they were doing when that speech was planned.
In this case the media happens to be working in our favor, but that doesn't mean they're working for our benefit. Honestly, his whole speech reminds me of my current job: the igher ups in my company are playing chess with O.D.N. for personal gain, and it's sick to watch. There's no difference between corporate politics and any other kind of politics really...
