The ambiguity is perfect, I must say. I love how well you kept the dynamic between all three so in-canon. They make a family, albeit a strange one - my best friends are both male, so it's something I can relate to.
My favorite part is Watanuki's fever - Himawari and Doumeki would both drop everything for Watanuki in a heartbeat, just like that. I loved this line: the permanent wrinkle between Doumeki’s eyebrows smoothes over. He lies out next to Watanuki on the futon for the first full night’s sleep he’s had in a while. Doumeki's my favorite character, so that made my inner-fangirl squeal.
And the end - Himawari's got more than she could have ever wished for, and it's all she needs. God, I love that girl. How she picks up and gets their assignments - it really shows how much she loves her boys.
Ah, thank you so much. ^_^ You just made my day with this.
You're so nice! I'm glad I could do something for you, and you really improved my mood with your comment too. ♥ Thank you so much!
I'm happy you thought I got their dynamic right; as I said in another comment that's one of my favorite parts of canon, so I'm really glad I pulled it off.
The fever was one of the parts I really enjoyed too- Doumeki and Himawari are so loyal to Watanuki and it was a treat to get to incorporate it into the fic. And I also love Doumeki to pieces, so. Right with you there. XD
Aaah, the end was a part I really liked writing, because Himawari broke my heart with how much she loves Watanuki, and how he was willing to risk injury to keep being her friend. I really liked getting to write her together with "her boys", as you put it.
Thanks again for the comment; and such a nice one at that!
