Sometimes I sit down and I just think
How different the view is here than on the brink
Of my dreams where the future felt bright
Isn't it funny how we think so alike?

I wonder if I really did the right thing
Standing at the fork on the road where I used to sing
I wonder what there was on the other side
When I stood at the fork on the road last lifetime.

But I am still going forward
I haven't been lost in this vast orchard

That man who once stood strong and tall
Only pretended to be strong so his walls
Wouldn't fall and he wouldn't be hurt
I wonder if his smile is natural now or in the dirt?

There are things which constantly change
There are things which I have changed
And there are things which I cannot change
Can't you see that I still can smile naturally?

When I walked I eventually came to pass
Where my memories were and the still green grass
All around the things surrounded me
Such as pain but also warmth that one day you'll see

What on earth is it that I have lost?
And why did growing up have such a huge cost?
What on earth is this unusual feeling
That's growing the older that I am becoming?

Even in the moments I think like this
Turning to the past you see what still exists

I had the strangest of feelings
That the person I passed who's kneeling
Looked like that girl who saw shut doors
I'm certain that I have known her once before

But why is it that I stared at her back?
When she walked away with strength I lack?
Why wasn't I able to
Find the strength to call to her I'm like her too?

But I am still going forward
I haven't been lost in this vast orchard

That man who once stood very strong and tall
Only pretended to be strong so that his walls
Wouldn't fall and he wouldn't be hurt
I wonder if his smile is natural now or in the dirt?

There are things which must constantly change
There are things which I myself have changed
And there are things which I cannot change
Can't you see that I still can smile naturally?
