I have been without a computer in my home for nine plus years.

Well, HELLO there! :) So glad to see you here. :)

Hopefully, you'll find people with similiar interests (I'd go to the search area and type in an interest and then start joining communities), and then that'll help to unjangle your process. Or just amuse you, which sometimes has the effect of opening the channels as well. :)
