Fic Rec

Mar 02, 2005 12:35

If you are not already following blythely's hilarious, ruthlessly sharp H/D satire of British Parliamentary banality, "Corridors of Power," run along over to her journal and read it. You needn't like H/D (or even HP fic) much to enjoy this send up of the British Parliament. For what it's worth, Harry Potter serves in the House of Commons as Lib Dem MP for ( Read more... )

*snogs you back*

If I were logged in properly, I'd give you my tail-wagging icon. Sadly, I'm not, and I'm too much of a lazy cow to log out and log in again. So you just get the pretty Klimt trees. But they like you, too. Your writing makes the birches all shivery.

I knew you'd never steer your readers wrong, and this was a great rec. And, as I feedbacked to the author, it's not just a fun political satire, it's a hilarious Draco characterization, too. And damn, that's a sexy Harry, while we're at it. As the Giant Squid would say, eight thumbs up!

I'm glad you liked it. I recommend all of Blythely's fic. Scroll back in her journal to Christmas time and you'll find some other tasty bits. I haven't read the serial fic, "Draco Merrily on High," because I missed its beginning and just haven't had time, but there are a couple of other one shots that are just marvellous from that late December/early January period. (I especially recommend "A Lifetime of Calamities Followed by Dangerous Illnesses," which turns out to have a brilliant Harry once you see him beyond Draco's self-centred pov -- imagine a Draco like that!)

I've missed you, BD.

You know, I answered one of Aja's polls a while back by saying I thought there'd been a spike in the quality of H/D fics around Christmas, and now looking back I think blythely might have been principally responsible. I was just clicking recs at the time and wasn't always conscious about who was who. I am definitely an admirer of Lifetime of Calamities as well as DMoH, (though I see I have a few more Parts to read), plus, I just got the chance to read Most Eligible Bachelors, which was a treat. So, now, double-thanks to you for the multiple plugs!

Have missed you, too -- isn't RL a nuisance? And I should talk, anyway, given my own posting habits. Hope all is well, and would love to know how various story projects are coming along . . .
