Fran! I've been feeling very out of touch and have been meaning to write you a letter. I'm so glad to see you here. (Says the one who is never "here" to see or be seen...) Be well, dear.
Thanks. I suppose you've long since done spring and gotten on with the year. (I really can't stand that it may snow here today. arrrrggghhh!) I want spring to stay forever -- or at least to get bloody on with it.
Hee! It's only really been spring for a few days, actually. It's glorious and beautiful and if it weren't for the horrific allergy problem I would like it to stay. :)
We have a redbud, too! Only ours is in our front yard. :) Will go take a picture of it right now, cause it's really pretty. And possibly our dogwood tree, too. Yes. *nods*
It was chilly today - 43 at the start of the Cardinals game vs. the Astros. Our players who did not play (mostly the starting pitching staff) were all bundled up in their big winter coats with their hands pulled up in their sleeves. Clearly, they are wimps. :))
I think it's up near 55 now. I don't think it's supposed to stay this way for longer than tomorrow, though. *crosses fingers*
I'm tempted to go out and take more pictures today, but it's still snowing and I'm a wimp. All those flowers are leaning over under the slowly accumulating burden of white stuff.
The redbud is very young, but it looks better each year. What's in bloom in Japan now? I have been AWOL from livejournal for months, so this is probably a dumb question. (You've probably been posting daily flora and fauna updates and I've missed them. I will go catch up on your back posts as soon as I send this comment.) I did enjoy your latest batch of pictures; I find traditional Japanese architecture beautiful in its mix of grace and dignity (or restraint). I've only been there once, and I'd go again in a minute if I had the opportunity.
I'm afraid I can't tell you what's blooming in Japan now, but you can see what it looked like in February from the photos I just posted. *grin*
In California, everything is blooming since it's always fairly warm here and the plants get confused. Mom has a lot of roses in the yard, and the lime bush is producing flowers and fruit at every stage of ripeness, just as it does 11 months a year.

It's been a hard time since the beginning of the year, but I think I'm finally coming out of the black hole at last.
