cliches.

in all our attempts to be different, to be unique, to step outside of boundaries...how many of us end up the same as everyone else? is it even possible to be truly defiant of societal norms, to be truly different from the people you meet?

that scares me.
because i think i have an idea what the answer is.

and that means i'm a cliche.

any luck with getting a black dress? I have a knee-length dress from forever 21 that's nice but not long enough to be considered prom-y. i'll bring it with me just in case.

My English teacher asked us to write a "personal rhetoric" essay, and present it to the class. Essentially, we had to write about why we do the things we do (/wear/eat/music we listen to/beliefs etc.) and like, what we try to portray with that

Mine was about how no one is unique, but that that is human nature, because with every difference we try to have, we really are just creating a common bond with someone else who shares that

I mean, who wants to be the ONLY person who listens to a certain band. But...your collective interests and feelings are like no one else's.

well
i mean
what is identity and can it be truly changed? can it ever truly take shape and be recognized within the confines of society?
i don't think it can be which makes everything we think and do, all those bonds, rather superficial which in turn gives everything that we think "define" us the potential to be the same as someone elses.

so what separates us? identities we can't ever see? or if you believe it, find?
