Hello. It's my first post here. I can't say I'm follower of Jesus filled with Holy Spirit, but I've been going to church for 5 years and am exposed to other Christians enough to know all their merits and quirks and sort of hoping to have a bit of Damascene conversion but it's not happening yet

- but if I read American testimonies on the internet, they always claim to hear 'voice of Jesus', 'have personal relationship with Jesus' and attribute everything happening in life 'That must be God telling me!' - is it to make themselves sound more credible?
Modernity has seen a complete lack of humility and respect when it comes to religion, so much so that people think God is their friend and that He talks to them.

This is like claiming the President of the United States talks to you every night. It's silly and most importantly, wrong. God is a big authority figure. He hardly wastes his time wiping the noses of commoners. People like to call God a King, yet they treat him like a therapist. The only people God talks to are prophets, and they are few and far between. Especially these days.

What's even better is when people say they have a "calling" or "vocation"; as if God told them to be an accountant or business major or chef.
