Is a Biblical God a god described by various men throughout history or a god determined by various men throughout history? I imagine that many theists would think that God was so much more than what was written about Him.
To follow that up, he MIGHT have been BIsexual. But the scandal with Bathsheba makes it plenty clear that David lusted after women (enough to do stupid, stupid things in the name of Getting Some).
No. I am suggesting that focusing on Ezekiel 16:49 while ignoring verse 50 (and 58) is dishonest. And if the Church sows dishonesty, it will reap dishonesty.
I think if the Christian Right focused more on what Ezekiel 16:49 actually means, while the Christian Left focused more on what Ezekiel 16:50 actually means, there would be more honest preachers in the United States.
Oodles of Protestant churches can't be bothered to listen to the direct words of Jesus F. Christ:
"And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery."
[ok, ok, it's the obvious context, but sly's asking, 'why bother with the biblical God at all?' if you're going to rewrite scripture to include gay marriage. But it's not as though most of the Protestant world gave up the biblical god when it rewrote scripture to include divorce centuries ago. So both the liberal denominations and C-F-A pass the hypocrisy test. In my mind, the hypocrites are the churches that can change their god's view on divorce, but find the idea of changing their god's view of homosexuality unthinkable.]
