'garo' fangirl rant ^^ ...
just watched the first ep. of "GARO", a tokusatsu show...
i've never been a big fan of tokusatsu, i could never tell the differences between all the 'karmen riders' or those 'power ranger' like groups, they all look the same to me... i was always under the impression that they are full of over acting, predictable plots, and clumsy looking monsters... i was wrong, or at least in the case of "GARO"...
i have to admit the main reason that i gave this show a try was the fact that konishi hiroki (aka ibu shinji from tenimyu) is the main character... and this only came to my attention because kuina mentioned it, (much thanks again, kuina *bows*)... which makes me feel kinda like an idiot because i saw an article of "GARO" in a mag i have, and i remember that it showed a small screencap of konishi, and i thought "hey this guy looks kinda familiar...kinda hot too ^^"... and i just left it at that, and thought it's just another tokusatsu (sorry to all tokusatsu fans *ducks*)...
but after watching the 1st ep, i would say that konishi would not be the only reason for me to continue to watch this tokusatsu... things i that i liked from the 1st ep of 'garo'...
- the opening sequence, it's just whoa O_O ... since i'm ignorant about tokusatsu in general, is all the tokusatsu (nowadays) have openings like this one? i loved this one, the opening the patterns are so pretty, and all the 'kanji-like' flying everywhere is cool too ^^
- the golden armour, it's so detailed, it kinda reminds me of the gold saints in saint seiya...
- the fights, not as great as some of the fight sequences in recent movies, but still very good...
- the 'back story' (?), the identity of the one that wears the golden armour, who/what is he? konishi's chara mentioned that the drawing by the girl resembles the place that he grew up in... so does that means he is just a 'normal' person? and the mysterious story book that the girl used to have, and those 'dreams' that she has, are they real? ...
- the monster, the design of the monster, for this episode at least, is quite cool too, not clumsy at all
- konishi aka garo, the brooding (shinji style, without the rambling) hero, comes with white trench coat and sword... enough said ^^
PS. and i nearly forgot, the talking ring that garo wears... O_O wtf? i mean, what/who is it? i would love a talking ring ^^
