So I was riding home on the train yesterday, and the train had just reached the second Philly stop. A few kids (17 or 18 years old) walked by, but a whole bunch of people were boarding and I was reading, so I didn't really register it. that's interesting - reminds me how once when i was small my friend tied a helium balloon to some bracelets (remember those gummy bracelets?). then she put them down and stopped paying attention. at first they were heavy enough to hold it down but after a few moments it started to float upwards. i said - hey . . . hey! but even though i was close enough to grab it i couldn't seem to move and neither could my friend. i remember we both just kind of stared and watched it rising. then when it was too high for either of us to reach we started jumping for it but it was too late.

good bye gummy bracelets :) it seemed a tragic loss at the time.
