Oh see, I was right :D

At last the managed to talk about the issue, and good on Rose for pushing it and demanding they talk. Maybe now they can move on together.

As for John Smith, :( such sorrow and heartache, maybe the Doctor returning was the best thing that happened to him.

Oh, chapter 8! You have written such a beautiful story with such depth that I'm sad to see it go.

Loved the whole chapter but the last sentence with Rose waiting for her husband that will never return is just so sad and perfect.

Will Rose keep her wedding ring?
Will the Doctor hold on to the drawing?

Oh, I'm really glad that you liked the image of Rose waiting for the husband that never returns. I think in my head, seeing as we know from Page 1 that John will never come back from the war, I always thought of that as the more tragic of the relationships. Which is odd, I suppose, since that's where the fluff was up until he left for war, while the Doctor and Rose's story has been pure angst. Except that theirs is the one with the hope and the potential future. It's kind of a twisted emotional aspect of the story, I suppose.

You know, it's interesting that you called out that one line, because...I THINK I mentioned to you in earlier feedback response that there was a bit in a later chapter that lorelaisquared and I debated at great length because we were afraid that it upset the Doctor/John Smith balance, and that line was it. I was really worried that that line would belittle John or make him less important or something. But at the same time, it's all true. So I'm glad that you loved that line so much! Yay ( ... )
