That early morning call was unexpected.

Well, not really that unexpected. He’d received many last minute work call before and after years of being in the industry, he should probably not to feel unexpected.

But this morning was different.

Because the night before, he was being scolded by some girl he hardly knew, in front of his own apartment. Plus, he had just to help her when he mumbles that he could do anything for her, at all. So, she took the opportunity to knock his door afterwards and ask, no demanded him to call the apartment’s management because apparently, she left her keys inside the house.

He did what she’d asked for. Call the office, waited for someone to come, which took another one and half hour, before she’s settling to her own place, without even saying thank you to him.

He wonders for a moment afterwards if that was just a dream, but seeing two cups of coffee on his countertop tells him he is not. He hit his bed without changing and he was finally able to get his sleep about an hour ago.

Until the sound of his hand phone blaring loudly. “Aomori? At this time?” he asked sleepily.

“It can’t be help but this is an opportunity” his manager said through the receiver. “He’s a respectful social activist, I’m sure you can pull out something from him”

He thought for a moment. Truly, Ishikawa-sensei is a well-known to the world as a very humble person. He’d done his work earnestly, voicing his opinions towards the world and is highly praised wherever he goes or whatever he did. Doing an interview with him is such a big opportunity.

But his three days off was also something he really looked forward to after five months of working without any rest day.

“He leaves for America tomorrow night and we can never know when he will grant us this interview again” his manager continues.

He sighed. “Alright, I’ll go” he agreed. True to his managers’ words, there probably won’t be any opportunity like this again.

“Ah, one more thing. This will be your solo work”

“What?”

“Ishikawa-sensei requested no camera or photographs. It will be one on one interview. You know how he dislikes the attention”

“Okay. I understand” he simply answered.

“Good. You’ll leave this afternoon” his manager said and explains a few other details to him before he hung up.

Not that he never work on a solo project before, but this is too short notice and after ten hours of riding the shinkansen from Tokyo, he sat inside the hotel’s café with a laptop and tons of paper, pulling his head as he’s doing his paperwork, alone.

He glances at his watch, 11.30p.m. He’s hoping that he can at least finish half of the rough paperwork before midnight.

He was so absorbed in his work that he hasn’t realized when he’s being handed a cup of coffee on his table.

“You seem like a person who won’t reject this” said a voice.

He lifts up his face and was startled of what he sees, or at the face in front of him. “You?”

“Me? Why, yes. Coffee?” she asked, letting herself to sit in front of him without being invited. She pushes the cup nearer to him.

He stared at her blankly.

“Working hard, I see” she commented, seeing his sprawled paper and a few articles clips.

“Yeah, got a call this morning saying that I have an exclusive interview tomorrow at two. Apparently, the interviewee doesn’t like the spotlight, so I’m here alone---” he said and suddenly realized he was blabbering too much at the girl in front of him who might not know who he is and what he do. “Ah--- sorry. I didn’t---“

“I’m guessing this is a field work for News ZERO?” she cut him halfway.

He looks at her, shocked. “You know who I am?”

“Of course. Why wouldn’t I recognize my own neighbour? And please stop looking at me like I’m not supposed to know who you are” she commented.

“Ah, sorry. I thought you didn’t know me. We didn’t talk much that time.” he apologized.

“Yeah, I was kind of lost it last night” she said.

There was an awkward silence for both of them until she finally breaks it. “So, is there anything I can help?”

“Huh?”

“You’re sure a man who startled a lot comparing of your jobs mc-ing in varieties and also as a newscaster” she smirk at him.

“I’m just shocked that you offered to help”

“Let see…” she ignored him instead and grabs a few scratch paper from him and began scanning it. “How much of this rough paperwork have you done?”

“Nearly half” he replied tentatively. He stared at her. She looks kind of professional when she read his writing seriously.

“At this rate, you’ll barely make it for the interview” she commented.

“I-“ but he was interrupted by a phone call from his manager. “Excuse me” he excuses himself to answer the call.

She glances at him answering his call before scanning at his work. Pretty impressive, she thought. 10 pages of rough work for just an hour? He’s good.

He went back to his seat with a sour face afterwards.

“Bad news?” she asked.

“The interview is being shifted to tomorrow morning at eight. Apparently Ishikawa-sensei will catch an afternoon flight to America” he explain.

“The more reason of why you should accept my offer to help then” she said.

“But-“ he protested but was interrupt by the young waiter.

“Excuse me sir, but we’re closing” the waiter politely said.

“Ah, sorry. I didn’t realized” he apologize and paid the waiter. “Keep the change” he smiled at the young man.

“Thank you, sir” the waiter smiled back.

He quickly packs his laptop and just when he’s reaching for his paper, he saw that she already gather everything in her arms.

“Let’s go” she led him out the café towards the elevator.

“Where are we going?’ he asked dumbfounded.

“Your room of course. Where else do you expect to finish this work?”

“Eh? My-My room?”

“Yes, unless you want to go to my room, which I doubt it very much. You are staying at this hotel, right?”

He didn’t answer her. Of course he wouldn’t just follow any girl to her room but, bringing one to his? It’s rare, no, it never happened.

Wait, didn’t I just let her into my apartment last night?

Well, that crosses the point of not bringing some girl he barely knew to his place but still, what if she’s one crazy fangirl who’s been stalking him? It’s a coincidence that she’s his neighbour, but at the same hotel as his? At this place?

Stay away from her.

“I’m not a crazy fangirl, you know” she said, as if she can read his mind.

“I don’t think that“ he quickly replied.

“You did. And before you think further, no, I’m not a crazy stalker or a psychopath either. Also, last I check I’m not a serial killer too”

He choked at her words. “Then, why are you doing this?”

She thought for a moment. “Consider this as a repayment for you staying up with me the other day”

He thought of rejecting, really but at this moment he really needs any help that he can get.

“I can type pretty fast, you know” she said again.

“Okay, let’s go” he answered.

I’d let her in once and no harm done, second time shouldn’t be a problem right?
