105. 5 times Yuto gets really jealous over Shida Mirai

1.

It had been a date with just the two of them. Yuto was looking forward to it. But it was either his unlucky day or the sky was playing a trick on him.

Yamada asked Yuto out. He even turned down Chinen when he asked. They had planned to take a walk, watch a movie and then eat dinner together.

Everything was going fine until they sat down at the park, sharing an ice cream. A familiar “Yamada-kun?” was heard. Unexpectedly, Yamada bounced a whole seat away from Yuto.

“Shida!” Yamada said, surprised, and wondered if she saw anything just then. He gave Shida that killer smile of his in case she noticed how shocked he was.

Of course Yuto saw him with the smile and glared at Shida.

“Ne, Yamada-kun, wanna go eat? Ah, Yuto-kun, too!”

“Uh, nah-“

“Sure!” interrupted Yamada, and gave Yuto a look that said “sorry”.

Their plan of going to see a movie and then eating with the two of them alone was replaced with Shida standing right between the two of them.

The whole day, Yuto glared daggers at Shida, but she didn’t seem to notice and still had a good time with Yamada.

Yamada seemed to enjoy himself too.

That night, Yuto wrote, “Shida Mirai must die” a hundred times and tore it into a million pieces.

2.

After that semi-reunion with Yamada, Shida decided to bring together her costars from Tantei Gakuen Q for a party. She sent everyone an invitation by mail. It wasn’t all girly, but it was still somewhat pretty. Shida just sent it out with random pieces of paper, but her friends decided to put on a few extra stickers when she wasn’t looking, especially on Yamada’s.

Yuto checked Yamada’s mailbox before going inside his house. “Ah! What’s this?” Yamada heard him, opened the door and looked at the envelope.

Fan mail? It couldn’t be.

He took it out of Yuto’s hands in case he ripped it in two and invited him in, but Yuto wouldn’t budge from his spot.

“Yama-chan? What’s that? What is it?” His eyes grew wide when he saw the stickers.

“Ah…” Yamada read it carefully and smiled. “I guess I’ll go, then…”

“Eh?”

He shoved it into his pocket and ignored the confused look on Yuto’s face.

“It’s nothing. Come in! My mom is gonna be home in an hours and she’ll pick up my sister on the way. I don’t have the house by myself for a long time today. You are coming in, aren’t you?”

With that line, Yuto didn’t hesitate to come inside.

“Yama-chan?” Yuto took his own bag from his desk and looked at Yamada. “Aren’t you walking home with me, today?”

An apologetic look appeared on his face. “Sorry! I have to go out tonight.”

But it was a Friday. They always walked to Yuto’s on Friday and sometimes had a sleepover…

Yamada’s cell phone vibrated. And Yuto would’ve taken the call if it weren’t in Yamada’s pocket.

“Moshi moshi? … Ah, hai. I’m coming right now… Hai… Okay, see you there!” He hung up and put it back in his pocket. “Yuto, I have to go…”

Yuto looked angry, then sad, then confused, and sad again. “Fine.” He turned to walk away, hoping Yamada would run and take his hand and say, “Don’t go, I change my mind, let’s go to your house.” But he walked all the way out the door, and Yamada didn’t even call out “I’ll phone you later.”

Yuto couldn’t help it. He followed Yamada all the way to a café where all the costars of Tantei Gakuen Q were.

Yamada sat next to Shida! And they were sitting so close to each other!

Yuto didn’t say a word. He just ran back to his house and went under the covers until morning.

3.

“Wanna watch something?” said Chinen. All of HS7 were just sitting around, bored as hell. He looked at the DVDs they had and randomly picked one out.

“Hey! It’s Tantei Gakuen Q!” said Keito. He needed to work on his acting skills and always watched JE boys’ dramas as studying.

They picked the episode right after Amakusa Ryuu got out of the hospital.

“Hai, ahhh…” said Megu, feeding Ryuu.

“AUGH!” Yuto threw the nearest object next to him, a remote, at the screen and stormed out the door.

“Ah! Don’t break the TV!”

4.

“HAPPY NEW YEAR!”

The year started with lots of singing from the older JE groups while Hey! Say! JUMP finished their song and sat down by the stage.

Someone tapped Yamada and Yuto on the shoulder.

“Who-“ Yuto turned and almost fainted. Again? Why is she always around? What does she want?”

“Happy New Year!” She shouted and somehow managed to sit right between the two, enjoying the show.

Even on the day of New Year, he was separated from Yamada.

5.

“But, we’re supposed to be a group with no girls!”

“But Shida and Yamada look really nice together. Yuto, just once, ‘Kay? No more buts. Even Johnny-san agreed to this,” replied the manager.

Yuto dragged his foot on the ground and gave the biggest pout he could, but nothing changed the manager’s mind.

The day of the photo shoot came. Yuto stood as close to Yamada as the photographer let him. But since Shida was there, she had the most pictures with the members, especially Yamada. Yuto continued to glare until his eyes were a bit sore.
And apparently, the rest of the JUMP boys loved her. She was tomboy-ish and got along with them well. Yuto lost all his spotlight to Shida.
"Ne, ne, wanna get something from the vending machine outside?"
     "Shida, do you play sports?"
"Would you like to see how our photos came out with me?"
"Your costume suits you very well."
Everyone welcomed Shida warmly and in Yuto's eyes, Yamada over-did it.
Yuto "accidentally" ripped the sketched picture of how Shida and Yamada should stand.

After the photo shoot, they changed at their own pace. Those who finished went out the lobby, promising that they'd wait until everyone's done before leaving.
Yuto scanned the room to see who else finished changing.

Chinen sat at a corner with Takaki, the rest of BEST sat at the couch, and Shida sat near the props. Yamada and the rest of 7 weren’t there yet.

“Yuto-kun! Come here!” shouted Shida, who was the only one sitting alone.

Yuto glared at her, but went to sit with her anyway. They sat in silence, waiting for the others. Yuto glanced at Shida once in awhile as she examined each prop.

“Ne, you know Yamada-kun and I are just friends.” She broke the silence.

“Eh? I… W-why would I care about th-that?” Did she notice? Was his hatred towards her that visible? Yuto tried to stay calm, but he kept blinking his eyes.

“Well, maybe more than friends…” Yuto nearly ripped the couch he was on. “More like siblings!”

At the sound of that, Yuto relaxed his hands on the couch and slid down on to the floor. “Oh, that’s it?  I would’ve thought… Never mind.”

“What? What? What did you think?” Shida poked his cheek.

Yuto turned a bright shade of pink and looked away. “Nothing.”

“Well, I’ll try my best to get you and him going out for a date after this, ne!” Shida smirked and walked towards the washroom.

“EH? I didn’t say anything though! Don’t get the wrong idea!”

“What wrong idea?” Chinen sat next to him. “What’d she say?”

Yuto poked Chinen the way Shida poked him. “Nothing you need to know.”
