Piper's Room at the Hyperion, Tuesday

Today was Piper's birthday. She spent it the best way she possibly could. She stopped at a cupcake shop near the hotel and got herself a red velvet one. Then she bought a mix of cupcakes to take home with her.

They were all hers, but she was willing to share. Maybe.

Cally was getting a lot of use out of her phone these days. She dialed her friend, ready to wish her a happy day.

Piper reached the phone and smiled when she recognized the number. "Hey!"

"It's just birthday after birthday out there," Cally said with a smile. "Though I probably should be starting with 'Happy Birthday!'"

Her voice definitely conveyed her happiness.

"Thanks," Piper replied happily. "I got myself some cupcakes. I should visit and share."
