Denominationalism = Demoninationalism?

I've been doing a lot of research on Denominationalism lately. In fact I've been reading up on it as much or more than I used to read up on creation and evolution. The good thing about reading about denominationalism is it gets me reading the Bible more than creation/evolution ever did ( Read more... )

Yeah, the whole demonination thing is very, very, sad. Actually, I heard that there are 26,000 Protestant demoninations in the US alone (I think because there are so many fractions and semi-independent churches). I still go to a Baptist church at home (and not because I grew up with it, because I didn't) and here in Japan I go to a Brethren church. I chose the Baptist church because although I don't agree with everything, I agree with most of it. Even more importantly though, at my particular congregation, there is evidence of true Christian love and growth. People serve each other, pray for each other, visit the sick, etc. Although it's a Baptist Church, by no means is the doctrine of believer's baptism the main tenant of the church. It's about the gospel of Christ. I chose the Brethren church in Japan because there are people there who speak English and they aren't hung up on demonination either. In fact, they have largely departed from western Brethren ways.
