Quick question: I'm trying to figure out what kind of supplies Sheppard and McKay and Teyla carry in their tac vests. I think I've seen a description of this before, but I can't for the life of me remember where. Does anyone have any ideas on what they would have, or remember any sites that might have discussed what they carried in all of those ( Read more... )

If I remember correctly, we've seen them pull out field bandages, Power Bars, I think maybe a Leatherman or Swiss Army knife, extra ammo...and I'm pretty sure they have basic survival items such as a compass, water purifying tablets, antiseptic ointment and maybe some blister packs of medicine. Maybe a mini flashlight as well? And that's all I can think of.

clips for P-90
food (Power Bars for McKay)
water and purifier tabs
first aid equipment
LED flash light, with extra batteries
Some sort of fire starter
hygiene items
A light weight blanket...weightless variety
spare socks in the event feet get wet

I generally give them basic camping/survival supplies, basically whatever I would like to have with me in a day pack if I were spending all day hiking (the above suggestions are all great!), and spare ammo, plus a few items tailored to each of them as individuals (like McKay's tablet computer). Sometimes I give them random items that might find their way into a pocket (cough drops, pencils, good luck charms from the Athosians and things of that nature).

As far as other stuff they've been seen to have in canon, McKay had a digital camera in the "MALP on a stick!" episode (so presumably at other times), and Sheppard always has a big KA-BAR type knife at his belt.

I'd forgotten about McKay's camera. I've got a good list going now. I just didn't want to forget anything that would be blatantly obvious. Thanks!!

basic first aide supplies like field bandages

powerbars or fruit leather (maybe some version of beef jerky)
thermal (space) blanket

I think it might depend on the type and length of mission
