I always hear about email and phone scammers and wonder, "Who is possibly falling for this?" But then when it happens to you, you realize they are quite tricky. It's not always as easy to spot a fraudster as I thought ( Read more... )

You were smart.
No reputable bank calls you like that.
I don't trust anything anymore. PERIOD.

Scammers continually call me, which is ILLEGAL as I am on NO CALL list, and it always has to do with my cc....forget now if MC or VISA, the ONLY two I own.........
The latter is what I carry with me.
It is never anyone with a pulse but a recording.
As soon as it starts I hang up.
It REALLY annoys me when I get one, but I have tried to do a #67 but cannot get a phone number to report.

It is amazing how many ways people have found to scam and steal. Glad I thought to call my bank first and not just react.

It was a good lesson to learn, and it didn't cost me a dime! Next time something similar happens, I feel like I'll be that much more prepared to deal with it smartly.

The same thing happened to me! I hung up as well, but I called the bank the next day just to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my card. There wasn't. *whew*

Yikes! When I talked to my bank, they said there seemed to be a wave of this kind of phishing scam going on. So devious!
