I'm in the DC area. So far, we've gotten nothing but waves of rain storms and a bit of wind. It looks we will only be side-swiped by the storm, so I'm hoping that means the power outages (if and when they happen) don't last too long. In the meantime, I've gotten all kinds of writing done!! :)
I remember when I lived in Falls Church we had some HEAVY wind and rain storms in summer...........they were not hurricanes but they sure did some damage, so even when Irene is not threatening it can be rough there.
I'm pretty excited right now with how this story is shaping up. It took a long time to really come together - and I wasn't sure it would come together at all at several points along this path. Of course once I post, I'll get all nervous and half convince myself that no one will like it. But I do that with every story and survive. :)
Shep whump...mmmm, my favorite. I'm glad your creative juices are flowing. Must be the pre-con excitement! Be careful out there! I have no idea about hurricanes being a prairie girl but I look forward to hearing about it in Atlanta. :)
This story has been a long time coming, so I'm really excited that it's getting so close to being done and trying to use that excitement to keep me going fast and strong. This is my first hurricane, and I think it will just barely side-swipe us, but I'm ready for it! I've done tornadoes, blizzards, ice storm, earthquakes (as of last Tuesday), and heat waves, but never hurricanes (all experiences filed away for future stories).
Survived the storm! And only lost power for about 30 seconds in the middle of the night, apparently. I slept through the whole thing. The neighbors had a huge tree branch fall across their fence, but it looks like we escaped without any major damage. I should probably walk around and make sure we didn't get any damage, but I'm kind of stuck in writing mode at the moment...
