Poor John, he's really suffering. I think you're doing well with the 'who can we blame for the Wraith' detail. some are blinded by the loss, others are tempered a little by history and experience. easy to forget that john would not understand the consequences of killing the Queen. surely anyone else would have done the same to protect their homeworld?
Thanks! Defending the "waking the Wraith" charge was easiest for me. When I was outlining this part, it occurred to me that we only know killing the queen woke all the wraith because the queen told John - not because it was some common galaxy-wide knowledge. How many others have been in that position where they've killed a queen, been told they'd woken all the wraith, and then escaped? Seemed like very few in Pegasus would know about that, let alone John, who'd only been there a couple of days.
Way to go Ronon! A courtroom defender is a role for Ronon that is in some ways out of his element, and yet his uncluttered and pragmatic way of viewing things is just what this trial needs. I love that this has delved into the complexities and mixed feeling about alliances and actions. Halling's view really brings that into focus.
The switches from the courtroom to the present escape are well done and easy to follow. It is yet another element that maintains the tension throughout the story and fuels the pace.
I really had fun putting Ronon in this new role. It was so different from his usual warrior role, but he is such a straight shooter and used to just telling things how they are. I originally had a much longer scene with Halling, but then cut it when I restructured everything. I had to keep some element of that conversation here though! It was a good way to show how not everything is black and white.
Glad to hear the switches between the trial and the escape are working too. I was worried they'd be confusing at first.
I love Sheppard's total faith in Ronon to protect him and his impression of Ronon streamlining legal earth TV programmes because he looks like a lawyer....until he's finished speaking 'I'm done. Yield. Whatever'...excellent

Thanks! I really enjoyed playing around with Ronon's role in this story and throwing him into something new and different. John will always have faith in his team! That's why me love him so much!!
