NaNo Report!

We're not quite a week into NaNo but I thought I'd update my progress. I'm trying one of those progress bar thingies here. So far, I've got a little over 9,000 words down, and I need about 10,000 by end of day today to stay on track for this thing. I'm trying really hard not to get behind too early, or I'll never get to 50,000 by the end of the ( Read more... )

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY
Would love to see Joe do Harry in a weekly series e.g. GRIMM type

And speaking of GRIMM, would not mind seeing Joe do a role in the series.
Might have to drive the 20 miles to check him out since they are shooting in Portland predominantly.

I just caught the first couple of episodes of Grimm this weekend. That's a pretty cool show - I really enjoyed it. It would be great to see Joe in it!

I would not even mind a bit of Leverage
I don't watch it but would watch Joe in it and if I knew when they were shooting, in either case, would high tail it down to town to get a quick look.........

Well done! I am also pleased because that means more good stuff to read.

Thanks for the Jim Butcher link. I enjoyed that. I like his writing style.

I think I need to pick up my writing speed. I know I have enough BIC time, but not enough of that with my eyes open LOL. I think I spend too much time editing as I go. It was easier when I started writing and wasn't as aware of the technical details. I worked on that after I finished the story. Looking through my hard drive, I see a number of technically reasonable openings that are unfinished.

Thanks! I've filed away that article when I need a little self-motivation in the future. I've been re-reading his entire Dresden Files and enjoying them just as much this time as I did the first time. Such great books.

The one thing I learned doing this NaNo thing last year that I really like is mentally setting aside the editing part of my brain and just getting words down on the page. I try to do that even when I'm not doing NaNo, but having that 50,000 word goal over my head is definitely motivating!

Awesome :D I look forward to the finish products.

I've just started my Secret Santa fic today and managed to get five pages in, and after having just figured out the dang plot after agonizing over it for days.

Thanks! I was worried trying to do 50,000 words of SGA would be overwhelming or just too much, but I'm pretty excited about it right now. My plan next year is to balance the time I spend writing SGA a little more evenly with the time I want to spend working on my original stuff, and I think knocking out a bunch of these SGA stories will let me do that. Or at least they won't be quite so distracting. :)

Great work on your Secret Santa so far! Hope the writing of it comes easier than the plot ideas!
