Rom and Leeta sent a strange gift today--in honor of what, I don't know--a collection of music on a data disc. Earth music, no less. I have no idea what they were thinking. I actually like Terran music, Quark. You should give it a shot. There's the type that Vic makes, and there's also Jazz, which both the Captain and Odo were/are fond of.

I think this is kinda sad, actually.

I mean, jazz is all right, and lounge music is all right, but between about 1970 (ten years after your Vic guy, I think?) and 2130, I think humans made the greatest and most interesting variety of music they'd ever make. And then all the emotion got channeled into "let's go into space" and music got boring.

But I may be biased because that was also the time period during which teenage humans ruled the world. (Not really, but kinda.) It must have been fun to grow up during a time when all forms of entertainment were geared around what people thought *you*, a kid, would like. On the colony world where I grew up there's practically a whole "children should be seen and not heard" thing going on.
