Thank you! I'm terrified. I should've really had it taken out sooner, but I've found one excuse after another not to, hence the pain. The only thing that keeps me going is that the pain of an extraction couldn't possibly be worse than the pain I am feeling at the moment.
They'll give you an anaesthetic, so you won't feel a thing. And you're right: anything is better than a toothache, so you'll just be glad they're taking it out. ;-)
OMG - that's AWFUL! I can't imagine having all four out at once, I don't even want to imagine what that must've been like. (As you can tell I'm a big baby about dentists). Luckily this Wisdom tooth is the last one remaining (but it's given me the most grief!)
Really, it wasn't that bad - it took about ten minutes to have them extracted, and it didn't hurt at all til the anaesthesia wore off. Then, it was a sort of dull pain -- more of a discomfort, really -- for about 12 hours, and then I was fine.
I guess it's different for everyone, though, because I've heard all sorts of horror stories on the subject...
hope it goes well getting the tooth taken out--bill just had his taken out a little over a week ago (all 4 wisdom teeth at once, yikes!) and he had been in pain off and on for years.
I'm just glad it'll all be over. they're going to have to do a minor surgery because they're convinced the tooth is going to break as they try and extract it. Just so long as they give me enough anaesthetic to numb the pain, I don't mind. ;-)
