True kids gotta learn EARLY Crime Doesn't Pay. This kid didn't sneak into a corner though, do the shifty-eye look and then pocket the batteries when no one was looking. Hell, if he really wanted to do a five finger discount why even call attention to the batteries by asking what kind his player took.

For future reference, if you do see a kid (age 8 max) pocket anything... use your super-sweet saccharin retail skills and offer alternatives to pocket carrying.... (i.e. take it up to the counter for them, suggesting someone else carry the item, etc) For now, your new rule seems valid. Can even hook cute guys up with a discount.
