[CI-67] COOL/NOT COOL 1

Jan 10, 2007 01:08

A little idea I had to compare Cool Intentions' "cool" against what's popular. Hey, I don't discriminate, I'll bash everyone! ;P
So if you're offended by this comparison or any in the future, feel free to change your style to be cooler...! ;P ;P

As always, feel free to leave Comments. =)

Haha, yeah. I wasn't considering drawing feet at the time, but I agree (though I can never accurately define why that isn't cool). ;P

Did it ever occur to you that the definition of "cool" is an opinion?

"A little idea I had to compare Cool Intentions' "cool" against what's popular."
Obviously. Didn't you read my comments before the comic?
The word "cool" is of course relative to one's point of view, though I will always maintain that somethings can be classically or eternally cool. Thus the premise for "Cool Intentions" and the characters acting/dressing as they do. This is their point of view. I'm sure there are preppy or goth or punk comics out there (as Questionable Content is indie), but this isn't about them!

This book was fascinating:

The basic definition through the years (since the ~50's) comes down to anything that looks good, feels good, and is somewhat exclusive (though often interpreted as rebellious). The sloppy dress style of most American guys may feel good, but it doesn't look good (by classic standards), and certainly isn't exclusive! ;P
