I bought Yoshi's Island DS yesturday. Meh, just meh. It isn't bad, per se. It just follows the new Nintendo trend; "more of the same, no more, no less" when it could have been something better. Not dissapointed w/ the purchase, it just feels like a Yoshi's Island Special Edition, minus the fun bosses (at least thus far) than a brand new game. I ( Read more... )

That's cause the Yoshi's Island series is bad. Has been since the first game on SNES. Somehow I've ended up owning both that and the N64 versions despite my dislike (go fig). I find they have never expanded the series. N64 was just a SLIGHTLY 3d version of the SNES. Haven't played the DS version but I'd bet it's the same game again.

Yeah, Yoshi's Story for the N64 was a steaming pile of crap, but the SNES original was kinda fun. I share your distaste for the N64 though.

You should have bought the new castlevania!

or any castlevania for DS or GBA they are all really solid fun games

Also a trend I see in a few DS games is actually having the space between screens in the games you can't see what is there and that makes me SCREAM! with horror! and stuff!
I have been playing Contact which is alright... and Magical Starsign which is pretty fun, but I am a RPG kind of guy so you might not like it. I also have Meteos and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime on the way. You should check out rocket slime if you are into handheld Zelda-esque games.

Oh dude. I forgot to mention that! The dual screen here is highly annoying. Really, the game would benefit a lot more if it was just one screen. It's alright though. If you like yoshi's island, which I did, then you'll definately like this.

Oh, while I do love the castlevania series, I always get stuck not knowing what to do next. I bought one of the GBA ones but never finished it because I didn't know where to go next. I was going in circles for hours until I just gave up. But I might just give the new one for the DS a shot since it looks pretty bad ass.

Hmmm, I'll look into this Rocket Slime thing.

BTW, I checked out Ristar for the Sega Genesis and it's a pretty fun game. Any other Sega games that I absolutely must check out?
