i agree with carrie. there should be a scholarship devoted to students who have worked jobs throughout high school. sound ridiculous? it really isn't that crazy of an idea ( Read more... )

hey caroline :) yeah i know how you feel, it is almost like the system is against you. You work and then that money is taken directly out of your financial aid, it is like might as well be a lazy ass like everyone else and live off your parents. I worked through most of high school(and now too) and did some community service cause everybody did it.. but yeah i experienced the same thing you did.. just a bunch of lame-os with like 10000 hours of service where they just don't do shit and eat a bunch of free food.. and THEY get scholarships. The sad thing is that most people really just didn't care, if they did, its cool.. but they didn't. But in the end I think there is a certain pride in not being fake and working an actual job. It has taught me and i'm sure has taught you a lot, things that these most of prospects fake don't give a rats ass volunteers never learned. I think it is importaint to work, but also volunteer too as long as your heart is in the right place.
