That was what I was afraid of. So something like a desert but with more heat and moisture then?

Katara's got the right of it. You'll need to be careful of other things, though-- get the wrong bug biting you and you won't be much good to anyone.

What can the bugs do? I'm capable of curing poison and have had to do that to myself before. [Never a pleasant experience, but better than ending up dead.] Should I be concerned for other effects they could cause?

I do. I've fought plenty of ferocious creatures in my world including the dragons I spoke to you of. [Though not much experience with fighting people, just people who were changed into dragons.]

There's going to be a lot of water. And... tangling plants. Undergrowth and vines. The ground itself will feel sort of squishy in places.

Water is definitely something I can deal with. The ground will be squishy then because of the amount of water I take it?

[And the wheels are turning in his head on how to deal with this.]

Not many, but I have been in one before.

Does your world have magic, by the way? [Because of course Piers is definitely trying to figure out how water based Psynergy is going to be useful in such a place.]

Hey, Piers. I obviously haven't been drafted before myself, but a friend of mine was. Apparently, you need to be careful about using magic around certain Third Party types, since they can shift it right back at you.

[He frowns at that, but then anything he can use he also has a natural strength against, so that at least isn't so bad.] I will have my blade also. I only do not know if they will be able to see the Psynergy Mia and I use since that could be an advantage for us.

[Oh yeah, he hadn't spoken to Marica since Mia arrived.] She's one of the people I traveled with and just arrived last month.

And what sort of trouble they might run into there. It's very different from the tundra, that's for sure.]

[And Piers does take a peek at the book and is glad to see Mia taking it so well when he knows very well how she hates heat a lot. He'll come closer to where she's sitting.] Have you found anything useful there?
