He just had many more years of practice and while he has some Psynergy you don't, that's only because of how much traveling to discover Psynergy they did. And he sure doesn't have things like Insight.] I'm sure your skills are just fine. I'm not going to be as skilled here if I don't find all my dijinn, and I do need to find my sword too.
