Thank you for sharing the sad news. I only wish I could be there to pay my respects. While I never had the pleasure of meeting this handsome, thoughtful and funny man in person, his online chats and livejournal often had me in stitches.

My heart goes out to you and yours.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I met Stephen last March and boy did he have a fondness of life. He will be missed.

I just wanted you to know that I read this at Steven's visitation/memorial service. It seemed the right thing to say about Steven...he was truly loved and gave love freely.

Thank you xoxoxoxooxoxo

I have many memories of Steven and know that he's our angel now...

My friend Anthony passed earlier this year (35, from brain cancer).... Both Anthony and Steven were fighters...Both had beaten their illnesses and had spent time living life fully before dealing with stronger virulent recurrences....

Its been a hard year losing both of them, but I'll never forget the spirit they showed living day to day...

My prayers are with you during this time of mourning.....Please know that Steven will be remembered here in SF.......xooxoxo Paul

Amy Jo and Tory -- thank you for the post. I truly appreciate it. Steven was one of my best friends when I lived in Lexington. He, myself, James Obenshain and Nick Garland were inseperable for the better part of 2 years -- before everyone moved away. We had so many great times together and he became a great friend to me. Words fail me right now to let you know how much love I had for Steven. He was like a brother to me. He always had a way of making me laugh. The last time I saw Steven was this summer over the 4th of July weekend when I went up to Louisville with some friends and he just happened to be at the same place and he and I along with a bunch of other people sat on the patio and chatted into the night. Perhaps my favorite memory was when Steven, James and Nick came down to Western Kentucky University (where I went to school) and they all crashed in my dorm room on my bed -- I had a private room and pushed the beds together -- it was cramped but we all fit. We had such a great time that weekend. Damn it -- I'm ( ... )

I'm relieved to hear his passing was painless and he passed in the same way he spent so many moments: with that big Steven Mackin smile on his face. I consider being a part of his life one of those gracious blessings I will be eternally grateful for. My deepest condolences to you both, and all of his family...
