Well, to be honest, I thought there were quite a few characters (I'll go with characters since I'm not familiar with any of them in person) in the poll that weren't necessarily *that* alpha male.
Along the way I think folks really ignored the point of the poll and just went with "what actor/character do I like the best."
As far as which I thought were the most alpha male, I think character-wise it'd be hard to pick between Dean Winchester and Steve McGarrett.
That's what aggravated me about the clarity of the poll - is it characters or actors? I default to assume they do mean actors, since the poll is referring to them by real name rather than character name. That being said, I missed the earlier people in the poll, but I imagine I'd agree with you on people I think are more alpha getting kicked out early.
And yep, it'd be hard to pick between Dean and Steve! But it does raise assumptions of how one defines "alpha," and that's what I found intriguing about the whole thing, given the two who are left!
Now see, I just assumed they meant characters (although I'm not sure why I assumed that since they had actor names) just because most of us have no clue what everyone is like in person....I mean most of the ones in question aren't even that followed by the media.
But yes, it is an interesting question about what defines "alpha." I'm not even sure I have a definition myself unless you slide into "butch" but that seems wrong just because it's such a stereotype.
I guess it would depend on your definition of "alpha" - which I take to mean as, who would I rather follow? And it's tough. Because while Darren has great strength in his convictions & sets a great example, I don't think he's got that extra special "something" that would make people want to follow him.
I'm not saying Jensen has it in spades, either, but I think he might have an edge in that category. I think people would look to him for leadership over Darren.
See, that's a valid definition of alpha as well. I don't know that I find Jensen has much of that quality either, or at least I haven't hd occasion to see it, but that's not important. It was seeing those two - both of whom I adore but neither of whom I particularly think of as "alpha males" - that led me to wonder about how to define it.

But if it's Dean Winchester, Dean would win over just about everyone. Except his dad or maybe Maximus.

Um, yeah!
