My Dad

When I was a child my father could sense when something was bothering me, or when I felt very unjustly punished for something I did. Bottom line was that he knew without me saying so. He would then sit me down and tell me that I had "Free Time". In "Free Time" I was able to speak my mind without a record of it being held. He would say "You can ( Read more... )

Are you saying that your relationship with your father is better now that you've opened up to him? I think that's what you're saying. I think that's great. I have a good relationship with my Mom cuz I tell her a lot but I don't think a lot of people take advantage of that privelige. I love knowing that I have someone who will love me unconditionally. I think a parent is the only one who can seriously do that besides God.

My father and I are definatley getting closer. It is not all pretty conversations though. We have to get through the tuff stuff before anything is achieved.

I disagree with your statement that only God and your parents can love unconditionally. If it were impossible to achieve for anyone else but them, why would we called to love unconditionally too. Also, could one condition of a parents love be that we are their children? If so, it would not be unconditional.

I concur. I try my best to love unconditionally. I forgive because I know that I would like to be forgiven. I love because I know that I would like to be loved. If the Creator of all that is GOOD can do both for someone like me, well, why shouldn't I?

Christians are called to perfect love because God gives us that unconditionally. If we can do that, we are being lights to the world out of pure love. How amazing.

Ok, maybe not. I just meant that I appreciate the relationship that parents can have with their children. I think it's special cuz not everyone takes advantage of it.
