My recently learned opinion of evil.

God did not create evil. There is no such thing as an evil force in this universe. Evil did not enter into our nature by means of consumed fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Satan cannot read your mind. He does not share any attributes of God that would make him creative or powerful, other than those allocated to him by God ( Read more... )

I agree with the statement, "satan cannot shoot thoughts into your head." But, I do not agree with the idea that there is no evil force in the universe. It is true that there is no evil force equivalent to God in this universe, as there is no force equivalent to God period (whether good or bad, God has no equal). But there is an evil force, don't be fooled. It is great to celebrate God's superiority, but it is dangerous to underestimate (or completely dismiss) the enemy.

Jude 9 "Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said 'The Lord rebuke you!"

If Michael, the highest rank of angel, dared not to speak against satan with his own name, who are we to say that satan has no power? The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist.

Ahh my freind, if there is indeed some force of evil, that would mean that God created it. And indeed God did not create anything evil. We know this from the numurous scriptures that state that everything He created is "good". Now, that is not to say that the lack of good does not exist. Just as there is no such thing as cold, but only, lack of heat. The choice that includes other than good, defined by God is called evil, a description, not a noun. In Ephesians 6 we see a hierarchy of "evil". It is not a force but the gathering of Satan and his demons' wills against God. They are merely created beings, whose power is distributed only by the will of God the Father, we see this in Job. This subject is worthy of discussion over TGI Fridays food and drink, don't ya think!!

God did not create evil. He created beings to whom He gave free will. It is true that everything He creates is good, but free will denotes a choice, evil being one of them. So, God did not create evil, but evil is a bi-product of free will.
