we need to get an a/c for Cooper's bedroom, pronto. Last summer he was still sleeping with us, but this year he's on his own and a fan just isn't cutting it

We got one at target for...I think $110. Our studio was a little bigger than that room and it worked well.

I do believe that most units do talk about room sizes on the box

Not that I don't wish the best for your son, but you could check garage sales--I got my first air conditioner from one for $50 and that sucker's still working.

Also, if you decide to go new, a small one will probably run you $100 or so, and will serve him fine.
