Player name: Mori
Invited by: Rikki, Hino
Character name: Ceri Weaver
PB: Splendid from Happy Tree Friends. Or gijinka fanart of him, anyway.
Age: 23
Gender: Male
History: Ceri is, bluntly put, something of a mistake. After a series of events that lead to his mother being knocked up with him and his father long since gone, she decided to try to make the best of the situation and settled down in Hearthome City. An accomplished trainer, she turned to Pokemon Contests as a way to bring in income, along with various side jobs to supplement this.

And so, Ceri grew up surrounded by the most adorable and pretty Pokemon. He helped his mother groom them and make the contest accessories they wore, and since she was prone to coming home late Ceri quickly learnt how to manage the household in her absence. He was given a Cottonee as a gift before he started school, and she ended up being well-loved because she was his very own Pokemon!

So well-loved that once beginning trainer lessons started in class, he’d often refuse to let her fight. The fact he was also a big baby didn’t win him any points with his classmates either, other than as an incredibly easy target for bullies. Unsurprisingly, he got bullied a lot. One day, when he was being ganged up on by some bigger classmates (again), he was rescued by one of the girls who proceeded to soundly beat them up. And so began Ceri’s friendship with Idris, and they quickly became inseparable.

Eventually they were 16 and earned their trainer licenses. Ceri, still kind of a spineless wimp, didn’t want to start on his journey without Idris, and after a bit of talking they decided they’d stick together up to a certain point. He didn’t really want to do this, but he figured he had to...depend on her less eventually, because it wasn’t fair to her. After travelling around (and gaining more experience on the way-- especially in double battles) for a few months together, they parted ways at Canalave City.

Ceri travelled to Hoemn, where he took on the gyms in an uphill struggle. No longer able to merely rely on someone else’s firepower, Ceri had to compensate for his team of small Pokemon through other strategies. It was very satisfying when he actually won battles and saw his little babies grow stronger, but after a while it felt terribly lonely without Idris around. In less than a year, he finally couldn’t stand it anymore and went to look for her.

After some more time honing their skills together, they caught wind of Omega Island and decided to set out. There, they quickly climbed through the ranks, having an advantage over some of the other new arrivals, collecting badges and upgrading their status. The town the ended up staying it had been attacked by wild pokemon one night, and there was a rush to try to drive them off quickly and prevent any further damage. Idris and Ceri took control of the situation, working together for the next few hours and instructing others on what to attack where, who to use first, always always keep your partner at your back, and you at his, etc. There was more property damage than any of them had bargained for, but fortunately nobody had died or been injured too badly in the struggle. As impressed as they were, the town offered the pair a Gym Leader position-- for the both of them.

So now there is one derp leader who’s trying his best at his new job.

Personality: Ceri is one of those people you don’t expect to be a gym leader, because he gives the impression of being less-than-competent. In a nutshell, he’s this shamelessly sentimental sappy guy who is also a complete sissy; the sort of person who you’ve probably went to school with and witnessed getting bullied over and over again.

He’s friendly and by all means a nice person, if a little slow in the head. He’s admittedly at least a little weird (what sort of person runs around conducting business in a track suit, sandals and a stupid-looking mask?), but his enthusiasm for his work and helping people makes up for it. Probably. In all honesty he’s actually more used to dealing with Pokemon than other people, but it doesn’t stop him from trying! The problem is he’s really emotional and kind of sappy; everyone’s going to know what he’s feeling no matter how hard he tries to hide it. He’s hideously difficult to anger because that implies having the mental faculties to take offense to anything most of the time, which also means he’s pretty easy-going if easy to embarrass or squirm.

He never really seems to stop moving, talking or otherwise doing something, and while he isn’t overly hyper he can be difficult to keep up with when he’s in a particularly good mood. A lot of his free time is spent doing mundane activities like baking and doing the laundry, and he rarely passes up any excuse to sew or knit something. Ceri also has this glaring weakness for all things cute and adorable, often getting distracted by them even if it’s something he should be fighting. He’s pretty much as unmanly as it gets.

Now, another very big part of his personality is the Ceri fully believes in the bond between people and Pokemon and each other!! He likes seeing people get along with each other and Pokemon. To say he adores his Pokemon is putting it mildly; he treats them rather like they’re his children, especially since he’s had all of them for years and has raised them from when they were tiny pre-evolutions. Similarly, he has infinite trust and love for his partner Idris, thanks to her being his closest (and for a long time, his only) human friend. Harming them is the only way to get anything like fury out of him, which is pretty much the only indicator that somewhere deep down, he might be a teeny tiny bit off-balance. With the power of derp and love, he will strangle the perpetrator, or at least try.

Pokemon theme: Double battles, 6th gym.
Pokemon party: Lopunny, Togekiss, Whimsicott, Espeon, Quagsire, Lilligant (When paired with Idris, he uses only 3; if for some reason he’s soloing he’ll use his full party)
