Alright, so we made to to fort myers. Got in late last night actually, but found out that we didnt have a reservation at the hotel we were supposed to be in. luckilly they had 1 spare room for the night and we were able to stay but we had to spend this morning finding a new hotel in lovely down town fort myers.
This place is a dump! There is litterally nothing here but suburban sprawl and a ball park or two. Pawn shops and chain restraunts and even tanning parlors (WTF!?!) as far as the eye can see... which is a long way in this terminally flat state.
There is also an adult video store that advertizes $.94 rentals... I dont think I want to know what that would be like. But then, Ive already lived through stump porn....
We finally found a room at the Days inn, which is also a dump, but at least we arent sleeping in the car. the internet access is highly spotty, but at least it is here... for now.
Well, at least there is baseball.
Not a lot of big names today since these were games against BC and Northeastern but it was still fun.
Curt Shilling started the first game, going 4 strong innings with (I belive) 3 strikeouts. he was working quikcly and efficently but against college players and without a radar gun its hard to tell how hard he was throwing. Still, looked good, no obvious pain and a smooth delivery.
Matt Clement started the second game but was pulled after 2 innings. he gave up a homerun to the first batter he faced... which was a little disheartening but im sure that kid wont forget taking an all-star pitcher deep. Clement did settle in after that though he did give up a few long outs, never a good thing for a groud ball pitcher.
Coco Crisp was about, signing autographs and generally being a good fan presence. he started in the second game but was not in for very long.
None of the young guns pitched today.
Of note from the minor leaguers, I belive moss had a 2 hit game (in 2 at bats) this morning and looked really good both at bat and on the field. I got to see some of the other minor league outfilders play but there wasnt much to note.
Graphanino was playing in the second game and had a nice 2 hit performance, cant hurt his trade value at this point.
The weather is beautiful here. 70s all day and clear. They announced the boston weather before each game... it gets the biggest cheer :-) keep warm up there!
Thats about all I can come up with right now and I am being kicked out of the lobby so no more Wi-fi. I will likely post again after tomorrows game, maybe this time with pictures... I have a ton already.
