I have mixed feelings about Lost. I feel like it's a well-conceived show, and there are plenty of terrifically clever plot turns. On the other hand, at times the writers seem at a loss, and cover it up by having characters fight with each other for no good reason, and this becomes increasingly annoying. I never went past season two, so let me know what you think of the subsequent seasons and maybe I'll pick it back up.

You ever watch The Wire? Just finished the second season and I'm starting to like it. Worth contrasting with Lost because it's not conceptually fancy - it's basically a cop show - and relies instead on well-drawn characters, consistently sharp dialogue, and carefully constructed plots. In other words, no gimmicks, just good writing.
