Stepping Over Death

Last night I get a call of a man down.  Upon arrival the FD is already leaving, which is never a good sign.  One of the guys says "youre gonna love this one" which usually means a stinker.  Not this time ( Read more... )

You see, these are the kinds of stories I miss ever since my first husband, a P.O., passed away. Thanks so much for posting it. It makes me feel -- at least a little -- back in the loop. :)

Sounds like the suicide we had the other night. I wasn't there, but apparently the husband went in the backyard and shot himself. His wife comes home, finds him, puts a pillow under his head and a blanket over him. Then she calls friends and lets them know he has died. Never calls 911. A friend had to call 911 to let the department know. I guess trauma effects people in strange ways.

Forgot to mention that she changed her shirt and cleaned herself up prior to calling friends.

oye.... stress definetely does weird stuff to people, we had a family trapsing around with a deceased infant treating as if it were still alive a wee bit ago.... definetely very sad......

Sorry, but I have to ask: is this the worst corpse you've had to deal with? Morbit, yes, but I'm just curious. If not, which was?

I guess the worst one was the skeletonized remains of a woman boarded up in her home I discovered a few months ago. Thats a good tale in itself.
