Knock down, drag out

I had the most peculiar homicide yesterday. About six blocks away I get a call of an injury accident.  Okay, Im barreling down and get more info from radio: "two pedestrians struck, possibly intentional"  Whhhhaaaa?

So I get there and sure enough, two down.  Female run over and appears to have been dragged by the injuries. I get there and she is

I know what you're saying. A matter of years back, I had to work on a pedestrian hit-and-run which resulted in the death of an elderly male. We could never get a suspect vehicle or anything else, nor did the department I was the working for actually put forth an effort to bring the subject to justice.

A few years after the incident, a female came forward describing the incident and even showed the car she was driving when she struck the aforementioned elderly subject. The lady confessed to running the guy down while she was a drug enduced stupor. My former police department then charged her with misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident and all was done.

Where the hell is the justice in that? I really hope the elderly male's family caught wind of who the female was.
