A detective pulled me aside the other day and said "hey I've been meaning to talk to you".  Me being obliging, steps into his cubicle as I was passing by.  He starts off with "about a month ago you pulled over my neice and gave her a ticket".

You didn't tell me about that...

I'm not sure I would have kept that conversation to myself... While not all pissing matches are worth mentioning, that one might have been.. With that hint of threat that he wouldn't back you up simply becuase you gave his neice a ticket.

And he calls the OTHER guy a socio path..

When pulled over, loved ones need to remember to mention their staus first thing. My wife has forgotten that a couple of times.

Funny you should say that. I'm LEO and my husband is a cop. I've been pulled over. If I'm not recognized I don't say anything. I would never drop names. I guess I have that thing called accountability. I was speeding and I was speeding near a place that I should not have been.

I was recently pulled over and given a ticket. I deserved it. I informed the husband that I got a ticket from a guy on his department. The ticket got fixed but not after I opposed.

I would rather pay the ticket than ask someone to fix it. I think that it's ridiculous to expect someone to let me get off just becuase of who I am or who I know.

Name dropping pisses me off, I would expect that it annoys others as well. I hate that people seem to think that because you're related to someone that you have a license to go off and do dumb stuff.

But that's just me...

It all depends on who's doing it. For a spouse or child, I don't have a problem with it. Someone claiming that they're really good friends with the sheriff is another matter altogether.

Tickets, especially speeding tickets, aren't that important. I don't see the problem with giving virtually anyone a warning.
