Hope everyone had a good Aus day and celebrated the long weekend in a way you felt appropriate.

Myself, I got drunk.  Fitting, I think!

Does it make me a poor Australian that I think equating drunkenness with a national holiday is kind of sad?

Is use of alcohol really how we identify ourselves as a people?

Happy Australia Day, anyway.

It could be worse...it could be St Pats Day.

I can't eat a sausage sandwich or sit around in the heat and watch fireworks on a summers day like I usually do for Australia Day so getting into some Aussie grog was my way of celebrating. Most Australia Days I don't but this one-why not?

On a whole, Australians aren't the biggest alcohol drinkers in the world...far from it! But being able to down a few cans every once in a while isn't sad I reckon...

Actually...I think we might be the biggest drinkers in the world, if I remember the statistics correctly...

Also, keep in mind I'm not having a go at you, more at Australia's image. Nothing wrong with chugging some grog on a special occasion, but we DO seem to have a rep internationally for being alcoholics.

Internationally we're known for being able to put them away pretty well. Mind you, in Alaska they put us all to shame. And the Irish sit in pubs from 4pm til close downing Guinness. It's nuts.

As for the actual top title? Luxembourg takes out number 1 spot...but to be fair there are hardly any people in Luxembourg.
I can't seem to find any more recent stats though which is annoying...would have thought the WHO site would have something but right now I'm getting more blanks than Nicole Kidman got from Tom Cruise.
