One of our earliest carriers in this neighborhood walked his route. He would park at strategic locations and work zones surrounding the truck, then movethe truck to a new location. He had legs of steel.

A more recent mail carrier lost weight walking the same route. She said 13 miles a day was typical. SO much better than some of our substitute carriers, who fire up the mail truck to drive from one house to the next. Oh, the pain of the carbon emissions!

It sounds like you're doing the job and your fitness proud, and that your flexibility has been factored into a permanent thing.

And your grandmother sounds like a hoot. :D

My mom is a letter carrier or USPS, too. She has been at the job for over 20 years, walking route the entire time! I think you'll out live the Fitbit for sure! (;

I would love to hear more about your grandmother. This was the perfect topic for you. Working these routes is incredibly demanding. I know my feet would give out before a Fitbit. Great job!
