This sounds like the inside of my brain. "but how do we focus on two hundred battles at once?" I work with a social activist theatre who work with a bunch of populations, and it always seems like playing a game of whack-a-mole as to what issue gets the bulk of our limited resources at any one time.

I like how you wove the Don Henley song into this while referencing other songs. There’s a lot of wisdom in music…especially the “Classic Rock” tunes.

There's this sense out there that, Amanda Gorman notwithstanding, poetry is kinda passe. I disagree--the poetry is just set to music nowadays. Henley, Lennon, Dylan...these are our Whitmans, our Frosts.

I feel this so hard - how to know what battles to fight, and when to keep your head down. It's like we've spent the last 6 years or so sitting inside a burning house, but stuck unable to address it. I did spend the last year doing a lot of "pulling back" to focus on family and introspection, and while I'm not sure I'm a better person or the family is any more functional, I *feel* saner. <3
