I love how human this Charlie is, and how much of NOT AN IDIOT he is. Normally I would hate the idea of Edward going to him before settling things with Bella (it would smack of macho bullshit), but in this case I quite like it. In the books it seems like Edward always gets Bella into trouble and she gets punished soundly* or yelled at. I like that Edward straightened things out with Charlie so that she didn't have to come home to his anger at whatever choice she made about Edward.
*Incidentally, one of the reasons I feel like Charlie is an idiot in the books is that I was the most childish 18-year-old ever, and even then there was no way I was young enough to be punished like he does to Bella, with grounding and what-not. But I digress.
I liked this chapter! Take your time on the epilogue getting it right-your speed of updates is already pretty incredible.
Ahhh poor Edward...his misery is so beautiful! I also love how involved Charlie is in this, feels more realistic to me! Beautifully written as always hon! Can't wait for the epilogue!
I lovelovelove how Edward talked to Charlie. :D And his tie, too. Mmm, boys in ties: I always picture ol' Eddie in all black, and it is WONDERFUL. Lovely, again.
Yeah, I didn't like how Charlie hated Edward so much in Eclipse. I thought ... I dunno ... like Charlie could have empathized more after all that went down with Renee. Not really realistic after Bella disappeared for days on end, but in my story I think it works. ;)
Thanks for reviewing! *hugs* Just posted the epilogue if you'd like to read. :)
Edward in a tie with an untucked shirt... all I can see is Is There Something I Should Know Simon LeBon.... *sigh*
Tieward FTW!
And I really do like how you write Charlie!
Whatever you come up with, multiply it by fire.
LOVE that line! Even scarier considering that fire could actually do him some damage.
I like that image of them at the end, holding each other on the ground, him promising to show her his love... *le sigh* Makes the epilogue so worth waiting for!
