Character Information

General
Canon Source: Soul Eater
Canon Format: Anime
Character's Name: Spirit “Deathscythe” Albarn
Character's Age: In his 30s -- since there is no official date, I am going to pin him as 33.
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. NA

What form will your character's NV take? Spirit’s NV will look
like this and will have the following: call/text/mms/internet connections, bluetooth/wireless, gprs, camera and micro SD storage capabilities.

Abilities

Character's Canon Abilities:

Spirit is a weapon; a cross-handled black scythe. By weapon, it means that he has the ability to transform to this weapon when the need is necessary; this also includes the ability to have blades come out from any part of his body (example, his arms, hands, foot, back etc). Spirit is not completely defenseless but at the same time, he is not an autonomous weapon either. An autonomous weapon is a weapon that can reap/fight without a meister (i.e. individuals with exceptional soul wavelengths). While Spirit can hold his ground in a fight, the most he can do is block and attack that can only induce minor damage.

He is far stronger/efficient when paired with a meister. When he is paired with a meister, he is capable of the following when in Soul Resonance Mode (a special technique used by Weapons and Meisters in which they synchronize their Souls wavelength. By doing so, they can release highly powerful techniques):

- Witch Hunt Slash - this is a traditional Soul Resonance attack used by scythe meisters. The move turns the head of the scythe into a crescent moon shape. Normally the Witch Hunt is used to send a single wave attack along the ground towards the enemy. The shape of the scythe can vary from meister to meister. For example, when Spirit does the Witch Hunt when he is with Stein, the shape of the crescent is a bit more sharp and square-ish, with stitch lines. Whereas with Shinigami, it resembles the mask Shinigami wears.

- Demon Hunt Slash or Kishin Hunt - It is possibly the most powerful form a scythe-weapon can assume. This is an attack that is possible to annihilate immortals. Spirit is only seen using this attack when he is paired with Shinigami so far. The shape of the scythe is bigger than the Witch Hunt and also resembles a bit of Shinigami's mask.

- Chain Resonance - this is a kind of Resonance that involves a team of Meisters matching their wavelengths with one another in order to empower each other. It is extremely difficult to maintain, unless all the team can easily keep their souls on a balanced level. There is no set number to the amount of meisters required to perform the Chain Resonance, but it is more powerful yet more difficult in a larger team.

It is important to note that Spirit cannot be wielded by just anyone. The souls of both Meister and Weapon should compliment one another for the best result. Resonating souls with partner's souls that are too similar can result in feedback effect, hurting both parties and resulting in failure in technique or form of combat. For example, if Spirit is in his weapon form, the meister in question will not be able to pick him up as he is too heavy to wield.

It is also important to note that the Soul Resonance technique will not function well if the either party involved are under stress, arguing or anything negative. Resonating requires both meister and weapon to be calm and of one mind. Should one of the souls fail to be in sync, techniques can not be performed and can result in harm to both parties involved.

Due to the nature of fighting techniques in Soul Eater, it is safe to say that Spirit is also skilled in hand to hand command and handling bladed weapons (since he is pretty much one himself). He is agile, quick and has ample stamina (think 3.5-4 out of 5 perhaps?) when needed. Being Shinigami’s weapon, Spirit has experience and handles well working as both team-leader and team-follower; he is also flexible in adapting into battle-oriented situations.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? NA
Weapons: NA -- he IS his own weapon (i.e.) he is a scythe blade and can pretty much make scythe blades form anywhere on his body (back, arms, legs sides etc.)

History/Personality/Plans/etc.

Character History: Wiki Link (if this is not enough, I am willing to write it out myself!)
Point in Canon: Episode 51 (post)
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: NA
Character Personality:

The most notable thing about Spirit's personality is his undying devotion towards his daughter (Maka). There is nothing in the world he wouldn't do for her sake if it means ensuring her safety, comfort and happiness thus such traits makes him the perfect doting father who sees his daughter as 'daddy's little girl'. The saying is true that every parent loves their child unconditionally; Spirit takes that saying to a whole new level. He is the type to really speak high of Maka, to show the world what his daughter can do, has done, will do etc. This usually results in embarrassing moments (mostly for Maka) but he is rather clueless when it comes to that department, because to him, he wants the world to see the perfection of his daughter and thus cannot entirely relate as to why his 'pimping' can be perceived as wrong or embarrassing. He would snarl at anyone who dares disrespect his daughter, tear the person limb from limb if they dare hurt her and would give any boy who so much as looks at her a not quite pleasing and/or warning look. Rarely will he ever say no to Maka, but like any other parent there are times when he has to put his foot down (particularly if this means endangering her own life, her comrade's life and the safety of the School/Death City in general). Like all fathers, when it comes to dating, he can be a bit over protective and say things like, 'you're ten years too early to even think of a boy' and so forth (he's likely to stalk his daughter during her dates just to make sure of things).

However, because of the divorce between him and his wife, the relationship between Spirit and his daughter is somewhat strained. Despite that, Spirit still tries to show Maka his affection in little ways he can and thoroughly remains supportive. While Maka's sarcasm and lack of affectionate display does take its toll on Spirit, he does not speak of it and keeps that matter private and to himself. He would joke about it, put up a rather comical sobbing front, whine and likely get a bit nagging sometimes, but deep down, he knows very well that he brought this upon himself and deserves it. He probably still buys little things for his daughter but would never give them; it is probably safe to say that he might have an interesting stash of things hidden at home.

Spirit is the type of man to be the perfect husband and perfect father. However, his personal relationship when it comes to romance does not seemingly go above voracious flirting now that he his divorced. He is very loyal to his ex-wife and it is that loyalty that buffers his desires and the concept of a new relationship. He tries to be very careful when in clubs and cabarets, as it is his guilt that fuels him to be so. But like any other man, accidents can also happen and not everything can stay platonic. He is not above such things but he is careful and does not turn anything to something serious.

Outside his personal life, Spirit is an all around nice guy. If he doesn't like something, he would not give it the time of day. If he likes something, he would praise it and/or talk about it. He is seemingly polite, friendly, easy going, the type of guy to hangout with for the evening or chit chat. There are only a few things that may trigger his temper and/or emotions and that is his broken home (i.e. divorce and his daughter living else where) and the lack of parental care towards a child (he loves children). These things can make him very angry and he is not above telling an individual off when it gets down to it. He can possibly take insults on his person on any given day but he is not spineless.

Which brings the next point. While his personality may seem too outgoing, silly, ridiculous or even foolish, Spirit is not someone to be taken lightly. His title of 'Deathscythe' and being Shinigami's personal weapon attests the fact that he is a very strong Weapon, worthy of the Deathscythe title (note: Deathscythe is a title given to the strongest demon weapon). His previous Meisters (Franken Stein; Shibusen's strongest meister. Kami (ex wife); also a well renowned meister) and current meister (Shinigami - technically the most powerful character in the series) also substantiates that he is not something to be taken lightly. So while Spirit is fairly strong on his own, he is much stronger when with his meister.

His Deathscythe title marks his authority.

Despite having all that ability, Spirit is not the type to brag and will only use his full authority when he really needs to. In fact, he is a rather sensitive person (i.e. he knows when to speak and when to shut up despite how he acts around Maka, for example), caring and if given the time, very warm. He is very protective in nature and can get a bit spazzy sometimes but over all, he's the type one would keep as a friend and can count on. He can also be very emotional. He may not always have the right words or the right gesture or he may often than not get his foot in his mouth, but he does want an individual’s happiness most of the time. And he means well.

However, his hands are not exactly clean. Being Shinigami's weapon, he too has to take orders from his to carry out a few things not everyone is capable of doing. He takes his orders seriously and will see to it that it is completed. Some of these things include interrogation and torture if need be. Being the warm person he is, the things he has done in his line of duty to Shibusen are endless. Some may include going against his bestfriend and/or sitting back and watching his daughter struggle in a fight that she is having a lot of difficulties in amongst other things like injuries. However, Spirit is lenient and is not a machine to carry out orders without thinking. He can lie as much as the next person, but these things that dirties his hands, he keeps them hidden and very rarely will he talk about it.

Sometimes, he can be lazy and have the 'do it yourself' attitude. He easily gives in though because he tries not to deny anyone anything if he can do it. But it doesn't mean he has to do it immediately and without question. He can whine about it for a bit first then do it in the end.

He is not the neatest person when it comes to the workplace or the house. Spirit is very cluttered and this can accumulate before he realizes that it's a mess and then do one massive clean up. Such things aren't usually important to him.

When he feels like spending time alone either from fatigue, a messy assignment or just feeling down, he would go to either a club or just spend time alone, depending on his mood. Should he choose to spend time alone, this would usually end up with him at the beach where he'd just take a long walk or sit at the roof top somewhere. Though him spending alone is very rare, Spirit really doesn't show if he's feeling the pits. Some may pick it up (like Shinigami or Stein) or some may not at all. He too can slip but it is rare that he unloads what he feels on someone, thinking that he should handle it himself as it is his own problem.

He is also a massive flirt and a charmer of women. He is not shameless in his sweet talk at all.

Quick note:

A few things about Spirit (though most of this is head-canon as there isn't much detail like this listed officially):

Height: 5"9
Weight: 68 kg
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Red
Birthday: March 3
Favorite color: Green
Favorite food: Nearly all sorts of Pasta.
Appearance/Type of clothes: Often seen in a black suit and a green dress shirt. His tie is cross-shaped and black and the collar buttons on his dress shirt is also in the shape of a cross. This can be considered his work clothes. He is the type to wear pastel and dark colors as opposed to bright ones. So he'd mostly go for khakis, dark denims and simple shirts. He would go for comfort or just stay in his suit.
Hobbies: Clubs, cabarets, doting on his daughter, the beach (lots of memories with his daughter here), women.

The Soul Eater anime deviates from the manga at a certain point. I've taken Spirit completely from the Anime and not the manga. His personality is a deeper view on what is provided in anime canon as well as common sense i.e. his rank and what that may entail that is not official in his job description.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: NA

Character Plans: To learn from the people he meets in game to be a better individual when it comes to his family. Particularly to strengthen the bond (or to have the means to or at least not be quite at a loss) between himself and his daughter i.e. to accept his mistakes, move on from it and rebuild (especially in the event he does get a Maka in game). It would be nice if he could form strong and lasting bonds and learn well from it too, one that’d strengthen him as opposed to weaken.

First Person Sample

[The feed starts with a man frowning. It has been several minutes since his arrival and the background is not of the graffitied old baseball playground, but one of a busy street, with people bustling too and fro, Spirit walking against the crowd.]

The operator I have been trying to reach cannot be reached. But there is this, instead.

[This being, the open network. Or network. Spirit isn’t even sure but that is masked underneath a jovial slash irritated look that borderlines to concern and mild confusion. Which sort of melts away for a second when a woman passes by him and he’s smiling and mama-mia what a beauty briefly flashing over his expression.

Before it falls flat again.]

If you are an operator, or a variation of such a thing in whatever telecommunication tower you happen to be in, what’s your international line? I need to get a hold of home and my daughter immediately, thank you!

[A brief frown, and Spirit is momentarily distracted with his gaze shifting at something -- or someone -- in the crowd before the feed cuts.]

Third Person Sample

There is a pattern in every city.

There is no familiarity in the foreign steps of the grounds he walks in, no understanding of culture in what seems to be a multi-racial metropolis. There is no understanding of how things function here, its governing procedures or its laws. Faces come and go, names come and go, idle conversation, a question here, an answer there. Spirit does not feel like he is part of the city, just like the many previous assignments he has been assigned to over the years. There is never a feeling of home, a feeling of comfort in the cities he visits. London, Paris, Moscow, Beijing, Florence, they are all distant lands that he does not venture to unless he needs to.

Because they are all strange to him, their clockwork and mechanism varying from one and another.

Spirit carries his instructions. His order is summarized in to one word; reconnaissance. There is no work to be done, there is no target to be apprehended in this metropolis, an oasis amidst endless dunes of golden sands, sands that carry secrets and history. It is a rich place, both in tradition and technology, a clash between the past and future under the burning rays of the sun. It is only the heat wave that is constant where everything else moves quick and without pause.
He does not know what he is looking for. He does not know what to observe specifically.

So Spirit observes everything.

Their laws and clockwork.

He roams the city, going from block to block, watching citizens in there garments of whites and blacks and tourists in their colors and summer get ups. He keeps an eye out for anything that could be suspicious, a madness that is lurking unseen, a soul that drips with corruption. His senses is wide and open as he studies, a casual observer in a suit and tie; he goes well with the business men, hurrying and punching cellular keys constantly and exchanging deals over the telephone network.

He looks.

It is not like Death City, he thinks, as he crosses the road to the next block with the sun casting fiery orange over glass and concrete while it sets and hides behind a tall and wide building. He cannot see the sky clearly here, he cannot watch the sunset without buildings getting in the way. Things obscure one another, an endless chain that connects the entire city together, holding it as one. He is not part of this chain; he knows this. And there is never comfort in his chest or when he sleeps at night, even in the company of vivacious women and talented dancers, even in the arms of music and colorful glasses in cabaret clubs ...

He is not a part of this.

It is not home.

It is still foreign to him.

And yet, there is a pattern in every city.

Spirit sees it when he stops at a pedestrian, on the other side where a child is pointing at a doll behind a glass display, her small hand in her parent's grip. She is laughing and giggling, her father making finger gestures at the doll, joy and amusement evident in his expression. The world moves ahead and Spirit remains on the pavement, a hand is his pocket, eyes as clear as a morning sky watching the child and her father.

He sees the pattern.

He sees the stamp that is in every city.

It is right there, the familial bond between parent and child, something so universal and permanent that it is unshakable in its presence. All the cities he has seen, all the towns and villages, the pattern is there. And Spirit feels something stir in him at the sight of something so familiar ...

(And he knew what that felt like, once upon a time ago when tiny hands held his, and they spoke of dreams and chased butterflies and painted rainbows. They were days where he didn't have to try so hard, where what he gave mattered, where he woke up to the sound of bells and adoration stared at him in the face and begged him for a new picture book or to collect sea shells by the sea.)

The child is laughing again with a doll in her arms and she in her father's. Maka is too old for dolls now, she wouldn't want one from you, remember? And with it follows, but it's cute and she likes cute stuff. Even as a baby...

Spirit blinks once.

The world moves once more and Spirit steps in to and with it.

There is a pattern in every city.

He wishes that he is unable to see it.
