The hell is this thing? It looks kinda like Trip’s device, only smaller… The hell does it even do? Better yet, where the hell am I? [Now while most people would probably start shouting out to see if anyone was around, Monkey does no such thing.

Looks like he's reelin' them in from all corners. It's a communicator, so whoever runs this place can keep tabs on us, and also so we can keep in touch with each other.

And yeah, this entire place is just shitty upkeep personified.
