Me and suzerain are seriously looking at getting a flat in Dundee - we've found one that seems affordable and rather nice, but we don't know that much about the location. The address is 164 Alexander Street - does anyone know whether that area is ok or one to avoid? I don't know Dundee v well really...

I havent heard anything about it, had a look on street map http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=340466&y=731302&z=1&sv=Alexander&st=6&tl=Alexander+Street,+Dundee,+DD3&searchp=newsearch.srf&mapp=newmap.srf and it looks as though its in the hill town, which is a fairly dodgy part of Dundee, not the dodgiest and it looks as though its about 10 min walk from the centre, but why would you want to move to Dundee, you must be crazy ;)

Thanks!

As to why we want to move to Dundee, well James has just started uni there so he's not got much choice. Personally, I want to live in Edinburgh but I can't afford it... Dundee's got be better than most of the places I've lived recently :)

The actual city is supposed to be really nice, but I've only been in the strange outskirts where the sky is grey, the buildings are grey and the ground is also grey. I like to make jokes about the greyness there. It was a dull day and it's an industrial type city hence the grey outskirts.

I think grey was the impression I got too on previous visits, mind you I tend to think of cities as being pretty grey anyway - it's got to be better than Stornoway :)
